The city forwards were heavier than their opponents' pack, and were successful in seeming the ball, but a weal! link in their back division, combined with i'le wood taeltliii" of the Valley bo.vs, nullified many of their efforts. The Valley forwards worked solidly, and wore well supported by, their backs, but the latter received few opportunities. Tho winners' tries were feared by Shannon (2), and Walls (3), N. Fordliam and Stewart each converting one. Wilkinson, Anson, and Cliurchhouse scored for tho losers. ' Tho return game will take place at Wakefield l'ark on Friday next.
