Mr. Lloyd George, replying to questions in the House of Commons, raid the Government's decision was that Dr. Mlannis would not be permitted to land iu Ireland, ond the necessary steps were being taken to make the decision effective. Colonel Wedgwood asked whether it was not in the "best interests of Britain to allow Dr. Mannix to go to Ireland. Mr. LJoyd . George: "No, I don't think so" (Cheers.) The Liverpool branch of the United Irish League announces that it is arranging to give Dr. Mannix a greater reception than any ether Irishman who ever visited Liverpool.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. . CONFERMENT OF FREEDOM OF DUBLIN. (Rec. August G, 7.55 p.m.) .. London, August 5. The Dublin Corporation, at a special meeting, decided to confer the freedom of the city on Dr. Mannix. —Aus.-N./i. Cable Assn. GREAT WELCOME PREPARED AT LIVERPOOL FREEDOM OF DUBLIN AND CORK. (Rec. August 0, 10.35 p.m.) London, August. 6. The Trislx organisations of Liverpool declare that Dr. Mannix will receive tha greatest welcome accorded any Irishman in Liverpool, where he is due on Sunday evening or Monday morning. Contingents from many Lancashire towns will participate. As religious feelings are likely to be deeply stirred, the authorities are anxious and are taking great nrecautions. The public will be excluded from the dock. The arrival will be kept as secret as possible. There is even a. possibility of the ship being diverted to another port. Cork City Corporation will send a deputation to confer the freedom of the city on Dr. Mannix. The Sinn Fein executive at Cork has ordered the people to hang flags on Sunday in Dr. Mannix's honour. ' . "
