The appointment of Mr. Frederick J. Chisholm, Acting-Chief Postmaster at Wellington, as Chief Postmaster at Dunediii, in succession (o Mr. Theodore King (retiring oil superannuation), and of Mr. li. D. King, Chief Postmaster at Gisborue, as Chief Postmaster at Cliristchuich, in succession to Mr. 11. D. Grocott (promoted to Wellington), are announced. Subsequently lie held the position of senior inspector of /the Department for the South Island, and was carrying out similar duties in the North Island when lie was appointed Acting-Postmaster in Wellington, after the late Mr. A, P. Dryden went -on final leave. • Mr. It. G. Poulton, of the RegistrarGeneral's Department, Wellington, has been appointed ,to succeed Mr. F. Evans as registrar of births, deaths, and marriages in Christctaircli. He will also take up the duties, of registrar of electors for the Southern Maori district. The funeral of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Wilton, who met their deaths as a result of a motor accident, took place in Masterton yesterday. Tho cortege was largo and was'representative of the Foresters' Lodge, the South African War Veterans' Association, and many settlers and business people of the district. Mr. Walter I V. Hobbs, representing . Chappel and Co., and directing the Evans-Gange tour, arrived from Auckland by the mid-day express yesterday, and is completing arrangements.for the Wellington season of these two oversea artists. Mr. Kenneth Cameron Clayton was admitted as a barrister 'by the Chief Justice in. the Supreme Court yesterday on the application of Mr, T. C. A. Hislop.
