DR. NEWMAN'S NEW POSITION
Sir,—lt was with no little surprise that I noticed among the members of the Independent Party the name of Dr. 'Newman. At the leist general election this gentleman was the official Reform candidate for Wellington East, arid it was in that capacity that he was sent to tho Iksuse of Representatives. Now, Sir, I think that it would be only fair and just for the member for Wellington Bcist to toko his electors into his confideneo and explain the why and the wherefore of his present position. Trusting that he will take an early opportunity af carrying out this duty,—l am, etc., PUZZLED.
