MEETING OF NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. Mr. tff. Ifonckton presided over last niffht 0 meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Association, thcro being alao present: Messrs. P. «T. Courtney, 11. M'Keoweu, 0, E. Fordham, .T. M'Laren, 0. F. Ward, H. J. Buck, W. G. Bryce, 11. I. Graves, and B. L. Salinou (hon. secretary). Concerning tho recent decision in tho Diamonds-Y.M.C.A. match, the Wellington Association wrote stating that it was dissatisfied with tho decision, and therefore asked the council to rcceivo a deputation on tjie subject. After full consideration of the matter it was decided to point out to the W.F.A. that in the ovent of an appellant being dissatisfied with a decision of tho N.Z.F.A. the procedure laid down provides for an appeal to the Football Association, London. Further, tho council, after deliberation, unanimously decidcd that the appeal under consideration could be treated only in this way, or by way of rehearing, and that a rehearing could only bo dono provided fresh facts relevant to the case, and not previously disclosed could be produced. Tho secretary reported that the Canterbury v. Wellington Brown Shield gamo waß sont down to be played on Saturday next. The question of officials for the match caused a good deal of discussion, and eventually it was decided that Mr. E. Brown, of Dunedin, be appointed to control tho game. Mr. E. Windley wub appointed Wellington linesman.

Approval of the following representative games was decided on:—Auckland v. Wellington (Fourth Grade): Canterbury v. Wellington (Fifth Division); and Otago v. Wellington (schools). The Canterbury v. Wellington game iB to be played on Saturday, but it Is recommended to t.lio W.F.A. not to prejudice the state of the ground by playing the match as a curtain-raiser to the Brown Shield game. A cablegram was received from the New South Wales Football Association stating: that tliey were prepared to Bend a n.cmbcr over to New Zealand to discuss with the New Zealand Football Association proposals for a suggested tour of an English team, and nsWng if a meeting could be arranged to moot such representative. Tho secretary stated that ho had replied that such meeting could be arranged at nny timo at two or three-days' notice. Tho representative will probably bo Mr. F. W. Barlow, who is fully empowered to enter into full negotiations with tho New Zealand Association.

The Auckland Football Association wroto forwarding another challenge for tho Brown Shield, subject to tho Shield being retained in the North ißland. It was pointed out that a provisional challenge cannot be made, but tfta challengo was accepted, the challengers having the power to withdraw same later on if so desired.
