WELLINGTON RUGBY UNION

Tho management committee of tho Wellington Itugby Union met last night, Mr. ft. P. Hornig presiding. was announced that the St. Patrick's College-Wellington College future would take place on August 17, as the flrstrnamed team would not bo able to play next Saturday.

In respect to next Saturday's senior matches at tho Athletic Park, it was decided that Berhampore and Poneke should meet at 2.45 o'clock, and l that the Oriental- ' Varsity match should take place at 1.30 p.m.

A letter was received from tlie Referees' Association suggesting that there should be better co-operation between tho committee and the association, and that on all future occasions notification of rostponement of matches should bo forwarded to tho secretary of the association.

The secretary (JEr. P. J, Jt'Coinisky) stated that tho Referees' Association was Informed of all rearrangements of matches.

The Wellington Ladies' Hockey Association asked the union to allow the association to 'put on "curtain-raisers' 1 to representative matches in order that sufficient funds might be raised to permit of the association being represented at the Poverty Bay tournament. To this end the association suggested that it should participate in the proceeds of matches for which it arranged "curtain-raisers."

Mr. Griffiths said that tho Rugby Union would need all the mouoy it could set this year to meet Us own financial obligations. <

It waß decided to inform the association that all tho "curtain-raiser" fixtures had already been arranged, therefore it would not be possible' to accede to tho request.

A similarly-worded reply is to be forwarded to the G.P.O. Club, which, asked for '.permission to play a "curtain-raiser" match on August 21 between teams representing tho Accountants' Branch of tho Secretary's office.

It waß decided that owing to dates for representative fixtures having been arranged, it would bo impossible to play matches wit.h North Auckland and South Auckland this season, but that challenges for tho Hanfurly Shield from South Canterbury and Hawko's Bay should be ac cepted, subject to confirmation by the New Zealand Union.

Victoria College Club were offered August 25 and September Baß dates on which to play representative matches with tho Sydney University football team, which will be touring the Dominion shortly.
