UNIFORM RAILWAY GAUGE
« PROBLEM REFERRED TO BOARD OF INQUIRY. • Melbourne, July 20. The Premiers' Conference is referring the uniform railway gauge problem to a board of inquiry, consisting of two experts froni outside Australia, with an Australian chairman. The inquiry will embrace the questions of the best gauge for Australia, the oost for its use betweon the capitals, and also the cost of adjustment throughout the Commonwealth.—Press Assn.
