FIRE AT PETONE

QUICK WORK BY BRIGADE,

1-ost evening tho Petone Fire Brigade received a eall to an outbreak of fire at premises in Jackson Street, occupied by R. V. liowe, ironmonger Constable Morrison noticed flames in the shop, which was closed, ami hunimoned the brigado at 6.5. No eslimato of tho extent, of tin." damage was available last night, bat it is understood to be fairly heavy. The cause of tho firr is unknown.

Quito recently the Pelonc Fire Brigado introduced a new system which its members were anxious to test. Last night's display is held to linvo fully justified its adoption.

OUTBREAK A'j' KELBURN. Shortly after a quarter-past 8 last night, an outbreak of tiro was discovered in an unoccupied two-storied, six-roomed house, No. 112 lvelburn Parade. Tho fire brigade was summoned and extinguished tho blazo after some damage had been done to a room on the ground door. It is thought that the outbreak was due to leakage from a gas-iueter. The house is owned by Mr. J, K. WalKcr, and is insured lor .21250 in tho South British office,
