MILITARY OPERATIONS ON LOWER EUPHRATES .
COMMUNICATIONS RESTORED (By Tolograph-Presa Association-Copyright (Eso. July 18, 5.5 p.m.) Delhi, July 17. The military operations on tlie lower Euphrates continue. A brigade, under General Coningham is concentrated in the Diwamyah area. Communications have been successfully restored between Basra and Samawa by armoured trains, co-operating with defence vessels. A defence vessel recently had a sharp engagement with Arabs abovo Samawa. There iB considerable effervescence in the Shatiyah district.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. (ltcc. July 18, 5.5 p.m.) London, July 16. A semi-official statement regarding the outbreak in Mesopotamia 6ays that Rumaila (or Rumestha) is being provisioned by aeroplane. It also has got supplies by means of raids into a town which is held by tho tribesmen. Raids against the railway continue. British aeroplanes are bombing and machinegunning the hostile villages and tribal concentrations.—Reuter.
