MR. TURLEY'S STATEMENT UNAUTHORISED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hokitika, July 17. In connection with an assertion made by Mr Titrloy, secretary of the West Const Timber Workers' Union; when as a member of a deputation from tho Timber Workers' Federation ho was mtorviewmg' tho Prime Minister, members of tho Westland branch of tlio vnjon have issued a statement for publication in tho Press. They state that Mr. Turlcy had no authority from tho union to inform the Minister that any mill dealing with tho Great Western Timber Company's timber at Okarito would be declared a nonunion mill. The members of tho executive and the general body of timber workers in this district rather welcome tho proposed extension of tho sawmilling industry at Okarito, realising that tho operations of the company will open up additional avenues of employment.
