COMMONWEALTH MANUFACTURE SCHEME. " London, July H* The Board of Trade Journal has published details of the Commonwealth Bureau's scheme for converting wool into textile goods. Tho "Yorkshire Post" says that if the project is carried into effect tho results in the United Kingdam, especially tho West Riding of Yorkshire, will bo revolutionary, as British woollen industries will bo deprived of the major portion of their raw materials. But tho very magnitude of tho scheme may cause it to lw received with more interest than alarm in England. The "Yorkshire Observer" says that, while strongly opposing the proposal, it admits that 'the schemo has been launched at a time when the conditions in its favour are more propitious than they liavo over been or arc likely to be again after Europe is resettled. As long as conditions in Europe aro such that, whilo the machinery in the United Kingdom obtains ample supplies there is • nevertheless a surplus beyond its requirements, which is not taken by Continental consumers, the greater will bo the inducement to Australians to establish plant to manipulate their wool. —Aus.-N.Z.
