About 40 business men, representing the various advertising interestsof this city, met in the board room of the Farmers' Listitute on Thursday evening to hear an address by Mr Norman S. H Cntts, president of the Sydney Ad.-Men's Institute. Mr. Catts dealt iii a Te ry interesting manner with tho origin of the ad-men's clubs in America, Great Britain, and Australia,. particularly in regard to the latter country. The success of the movement in Australia was very pvnnounced, and tho amount of work carried out tended not only to ednc-al.i the public to realise the professional standing of those associated with the advertising movement, but tho meeting together of those representing the various interests helped to raise their efficiency At U:-e conclusion of the address a resolution was unanimously carried nffirm•iii? .the need for establishing an advertisin.i,' club in this city. A provisional committee was appointed consisting of Messrs. If F. Harper, ]?. Hill, ,T. Jenkins. M. Levy, Newton, Itusden Salt, and IT. W. Stephenson, to draw up a constitution to bo presented at a meeting to be held in tho near future Mr. Eusden Salt was elected chairman of tho committee, with Mr. If. Hilt as secretary. At ihe conclusion of the meeting a hearty vole of (hanks was accorded Mr. Calls, also lo Mr. C. R Smith for presiding at the meeting.
