CONTINENTAL SWEEPS
❖ GREAT NUMBER OF ENGLISH LETTERS DETAINED. London, February 13. On police instructions, the Post Office has recently detained hundreds of thousands of letters, addressed to Continental sweep promoters. The remittances usually range from 10s. to JlO. It is understood that the police do not desire to suppress all such correspondence, but they want to make inquiries, because they are certain most of the sweeps are fraudulent.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable A6sn.
