o THE LATEST REPORTS. During the twenty-four hours ended noon yesterday 100 eases of influenza were reported in tho Wellington public health district. Tile cases were notified . as follows:, Waipawa, 5; Taranaki, 1; Hnwcra, 5; ralnierston North, 4;_ Wangaiiui, 7; Wellington, J5; Nelson, 63.' Only four of the cases ivere of tho pneumonic type, the remainder beinjj classified as mild. In regard to, the Nelson 'cases, Dr. M. 11. Watt, of'the Public Health Office, explained to a Dominion reporter that 33 of the notifications were delayed—they referred to last week. Some of the other Nelson notifications were possibly delayed also. • "As. a matter of fact," said Dr. Watt, ''there are now very few daily notifications from Nelson, and the epidemic there lias practically run its course. The latest information by wire from Nelson is that tho position there is becoming practically normal, and that only mild' eases are being reported." RETURNED SOLDIERS ACTIVE. Arrnnecments are in hand by the Weilinelon Returned Soldiers' Association for the formation of a strong fighting organisation in the event of a recrudescence of the influenza epidemic in a violent form. The executive at its last meeting arranged for wiiib of the association members in each part of the city to stand readv, and a central controlling body will be immediately appointed should the position warrant it; AUCKLAND NOTIFICATIONS.
