EXTRAORDINARY MURDER CASE
— -0 GERMAN KILLED AT SCAPA FLOW. London, February 0. An extraordinary murder trial lias been concluded in Edinburgh. A bluejacket, named James Wooley was charged with killintr a German prisoner named Everstes aboard the battleship Resolution at Scana Flow, two days after the scuttling. Accused was subsequently arrested as a deserter. A seaman gavo evidence that Wooley said ho was going to kill tho German. V, 7 itnoss thought he was joking, but extracted a'cartridge from AVooley's rifle. Another seaimm admitted that lie knew that a German prisoner had been killed, but did not report the matter, as bo had no love for Germans. Woolev's father, tho first witness for tho defence, said lie lost two sons within a week in the Sommo fighting. Accused was only sixteen when he joined the Navv. Ho was not tho sort of boy to think of violence when in his proper sense. A comrado of AVooley's gave evidence that Wooley was drunk. The iurv, after an absqnee of twenty minutes, brought in a verdict of "Notnroven." and the accused was discharged.— Aus.-N.Z- Cable Assn.
