WAIRARAPA CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING.

By Telegraph-Special Correspondent. Masterton, February 12. The third annual motor-cycle sports of the Wairarapa Automobile Association was held on the Taukerenikau racecourse to-day. There was a good attendance, tho sum of JEU7 being taken at the gates. I/iiht year the takings amounted lo .£97, Undc'r the supervision of Messrs. 3. V. Wilson (secretary), A. C. Holms and J. Dauber (judges), and W. Howard Booth (starter) the events were got oft well to time. Despite tho unsuilability of the course for such a purpose, some vorv creditable riding was seen, that of P. 'Coleman being the subject of special admiration. ' this rider started from scratch each time, which meant that very often some of the other competitors had two or three laps start. Coleman, however, invariably overhauled and passed them in an incredibly short, space. of time. Ilis skill was rewarded with the la-guinea cup presented by Mr. Martin Elgar to the winner of the Wairarapa championship. The performances of Manghan Crawley and E. C. Gaisford •vere also vcrv good. Coleman, who fell free, hastily got up, ami seemed none the worse for his spill, barring n slight abrasion on his face. The machine was badly damaged. The only starters.- Tins was a runaway victory for Coleman, who won by almost, a "omul.
