NOTES FROM VARIOUS CENTRES (From Our Special Correspondents.) WAJJJAPA The now Stato School in Colo Street, Masterton, is now complete, except tor the furniture, It contains three large mid woll-ventilated rooms, built to (eat 150 children. In addition, thero is a concrato rest-house and an asphalt playground. The institution was formally opened by tho Mayor, Mr. W. H. Jackam, on Tuesday. Mr. B. Brown, !,ecretary of the Masterton District High Scliool Committeo, and Mr. A. Holms, president of tho Wairarapa South School Committees' Association, wero also present, and spoko in .congratulatory terms of the fine building and its appointments.

Tho weekly meeting of the Claims Board of the Wairanipa Patriotic Association was held in Masterton on Monday, Mr. Hugh Morrison presiding. In response to a request from the. Taratahi Training Farm, it was decided to hand over to tho trustees a Vllinrd table and equipment now in the Soldiers' Club at Featherston Camp, for tho use- of soldiers on the farm. One application from a permanently disabled soldier for a loan of £09 was voted as a straightout grant. It was decided to guara.nVre arother soldier for tho purchase of stock for his farm. Fivo claims for temporary assistance were granted, and three were declined as not coming within tho Mope of tho. fund.

Tho quarterly meeting of tho Lcyal MastPrton 'Lodge of Oddfellows was held on. Monday night. Bro. G. L. Cballis presided over a good attendance. Officers were duly elected, and the installation ceremony was held over until the annual meeting, a month hence. One friend was initiated into the order, and on<j was proposed. P.G, Bro. J. Linglcy was nominated for D.G.M.. and P.P.G.M. Bro. Madeley for relievimt officer, AVellinpton District. P.G.P.M. Smith nnd P.G. Bro. J. Langley were appointed to represent the Lodg'o at the District Conferenc to be held at Eketnhuna. Bro. Ale M'TCenzic was given a hearty j.odsto wc!eomo home, Bro. M'Kenzie being the last Foldior member to return out of fortv-five who have seen active service during the lato war.
