The report of the company for tho'year ended September 30 -showa. that new ordinary policies wero 369, assuring £124,900. yielding an annual .revonue of £5197. It is recorded tljat the net increase of ordinary business exceeded £68,000, and that in tho industrial department there ia a satisfactory increase in tho volumo of business in forco. In tho industrial department death claims, £1535, were hoavier on tho year, -wholly attributable to tho infhionza epidomic. In tho ordinary department death claims, £396, wero lighter and mainly resulted from influenza. Other death claims, amounting to £1332, wore announced towards the end cf the jcar, but at tho time of closing of accounts had not been proved, and consequently were not Included in tho figures for the year. Endowments matured during the year amounted to £2942. These comprised a number of small house purchase endowment policies issued in tho industrial department. Comparatively few of this class of policy remain in force. In tho house purchaao department 74 advances havo been made Bince commencing busincaa and £0 out of these have been wholly repaid Investments comprise mortgages, £6960; fixed depoßite, £17.100; other cash at banks, £7204; war loana, £3000; Treasury bills and inscribed stock, £2500. Revonue amounted to £22,415. Genoral expenses amounted to £14.739. Assurance funds at the end of the year wero £24,940, an increase- of £2697. In the balance-sheet among tho assets appears the item "foundation organisation and extension of rusinesß, £40,125," the total on the aaseta side being £82,2^0.
