The New York "Times" correspondent at Peking reports that Mr. Bruce, president of the-Pacilic Development Corporation, in a statement said: "Wo liave loaned to China five and a half million dollars, and secured the surplus revenue on wine and tobacco. We contemplate additional loans, on condition that the Chinese Govern men t appoints an American as Associate Inspector-General. The loan lias no political significance. Wo are only devoting our energies lo develop American''trade in the Orient. The Pacific Development. Corporation has no connection with any' international finanio\al group.
