E. P. RJSHWORTH AT DAY'S BAY. Mr. E. P. Rishworth had a very encouraging mooting at Day's Bay lost night, about seventy electors turning up at tho Pavilion. Ho received a good hearing throughout. Mr. M'Kibben occuwied the chair, and in introducing the sneaker said Mr. Rishworth was well known dosm'te the attempt of tho Liberal Press and the Liberal candidate to suggest otherwise. Mr M'Kibben euloL'ised thi» work the candidate had done, and stated that he was known to be a straightforward, earnest worker, and a strong loyalist. Mr. Rishworth oissected tho figures ol past elections, and remarked that it was not logical to urge Reform voters to ens their votes against their principles and for a candidate vim wns so evidently fighting a losing bottle. To ensure the absolute defeat of the Labour candidalo thov should stick to their Reform candidate nnd their principles He spoko of his increasingly irell-attcmied meetings, and mentioned that it had not been necessary to take his audience around with him. ft was quite evident that there wns enough intercyd: to ensure a good attendance. He dealt with the cost of living, and - said that foodstuffs which had to be imported were being controlled bv local conditions of labour, which affected the prices. , The only chance of an effective reduction in the cost of living would bo by purchase by the Government, and the removal of Customs 'duties'from the necessities ! nf the break-fast-table. Special attention wns necessary to complete exercise of the powers of the Board of Trade to prevent genern] profiteering. Mr. T. IT. Mayer proposed a vote of thanks nnd confidence, which was carried unanimously, and the ramlidnte was accorded a hearty round of appjaus'j,,
