V FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. The Petone Borough Council held its fortnightly meeting last night, when (here were present: The Mayor (Mr. .7. W. M'Ewan) and Councillors E. 'i'ovev, G. Cook, W. Hay, J; Churchonss, C. P. Brocklcbank, A. Anderson, J. Kyle, and D. S. Bedingfield. The health inspector reported one case of phthisis at the Ksplanade The- district engineer, N.Z. Railways, wrote declining to waive the charge for the steam roller. The. report of the Vigilance Committee on tho Mangahao hydro-electric power scheme was to the effect that tho committee was of opinion that there was too much delay through "red tape" and other causes, which they must endeavour to eliminate. Tho borough engineer, Lower Hutt, asked for an additional four-tenths of gas pressure to ensure that the pressure at Wakefield Street bo maintained as nearly as possible uniformly at i inches during the maximum hours of consumption.
