THIS WAY SAFETY LIES

On tho opposite pagj of this issue will be i;eoi reproductions of tho photographs of a number of Reform Candidates who are contesting scats in the electorates specially covered by tho circulation of The Dominion. Below we print the names of other candidates whose photographs are not available,. but who are equally deserving of support. We would again impress upon our readers that in casting their votes at tho polls on Wednesday next they will exercise an influence for good or ill on the fortunes of their country Bueli as was never possible at any previous general election in this country. The decision, of tho electors on tho present occasion derives il.s special importance from the fact that new and .disturbing elements have grown up in our midst which threaten the future peace and well-being of the community; and that tho danger is accentuated by Sir Joseph Ward's action in dividing the moderate and stable elements into warring camps. Tho result is that, unless the electors ignore the artificial parly divisions which Sir Joseph Ward is endeavouring to* keep alive, mid send back to Parliament a strong and united party, the country, may find itself involved in a state of turmoil that r.'ill react to the injury of all its people. Mr, Massey and the Reform Party aro working to secure Unity, and their' complete success at tho polls offers the only visible means of promoting that progress (ssential to tho country's welfare and safeguarding its people against the revolutionary schemes of the extremists. At the close of the. last session Mr. Massey had a following of iO members, while Sir Joseph Ward's following numbered 21). It will be seen, therefore, that the Reform .Party goes to the polls with a substantial lead, and Ihat it has every prospect of maintaining its advantage. But it requires (o be iurthor strengthened in numbers in order that it may proceed steadily ahead with the work which lies before it. Sir Joseph Ward's only chance of embarrassing the Government—and it is a slender one—is dependent on the aid of tho extremists. It is for the electors (o say whether, in face of tho conditions which exist to-day, that chance should be completely extinguished and tho position of tho Government made absolutely secure. , Wellington and the surrounding country . districts fire tlnig afforded a .great opportunity. They can set an example of Unity to iiio whole Dominion, and ensure, the election of a strong Government.
