The spring meeting-of the AVanganui Jockey Club will be held to-morrow and on Saturday. The fact tha'; the railways arc again carrying horses has been the means of making the fixture look like being highly successful. dominations for all events at tho spring meeting of the AVellington'-Racing Club close on Friday next at 9 o'clock. Secretary A. A. Fooks, o:-: the Ashburton Racing Club, has an advortiseniont in this issue, calling attention to tha closing,.'of"entries for the postponed spring meeting of his club. The gathering is now set down for October 16 and •17, and tho programme will be found in this issue. Entries close on Monday next, at 5 p.m. \ Nominations for all.events at the Masterton meeting close on Friday next at 9 p.m. ■ Horses owned by Mrijß. A. M'Konzie. of Palmerston North, won three races at the Otaki meeting. The fathionably-bred Old Gold scored twice and Sacramento once.- ' At the Otaki meeting, C. Emurson rode four winners and A. Reed rind L. Morris each saluted the judge on three occasions. Dick, winner of the Hock AVelter Handicap at Otaki on 'Monday, is a halfbrother by Gluten to Heel Tap, and carries tho colours of Mr. J.'J. Corry, of Blenheim. She was railed to AVanganui early this week, and will contest the Okehu Hurdles to-mor-row. v A commendable feature of the Otaki meeting was the punctuality with which the events were got off on both days. The last race was timed to start at 4.40 p.m., and shortly after that timo the .majority of those present were on their way home. ■ Secretary AV. Bull, of the Horowhenua Pacing Club, was at the Otaki meeting on both days, making arrangements fertile accommodation of visiting trainers and their teams at tho cumin"; Levin meeting. Those who saw War Tank win; at the Pakurnnga Hunt Club meeting, predict that the Messrs.
