A conference was held in the City Council chamber of the municipal tramways representatives from most of tho centres in, New Zealand to discuss the Government- regulations which the Minister of 'Publio Works (Sir William Eraser) proposes to put into operation on a date yet to be deoisied.' These regulations are those which were drafted before the.outbreak of war, the operation of which was suspended when hostilities broke out. They vitally affect every system of electrical tramways in .the Dominion in-respect to load limitations and traffio work generally. The conference was held in camera.

The delegates were as follow '.—Wellington, Mr, J. P. Luke (ohairman), Councillor R. A. Wright, and Mr. M. Cable (acting-tramways manager); Christchurch, Eon, J. Barr (chairman Christchurch' Tramways Board) and Mr. E. P. Turner (a member of the board); Duncdin, Mr. Lewin (Town Clerk) and Mr. M'Kenzie (tramways managor); Invereargill, Mr. Foster (tramways engineer); Auckland, Councillor Holdsworth and Mr. Henry Wilson (Town Clerk); Wangamii, the Mayor (Mr. Mackity) and Mr. F. After considering the regulations as submitted by the Minister, it was the generally-expressed opinion that they should not be gazetted for some time to come, as it was considered that, as conditions were at present, some of the regulations would operate prejudicially to controlling.authorities and the public. : Members of the conference'are to wait upon the Minister at 11 a.m. tc-day.
