CAR CAPSIZES AT HILLGROVE
; A WOMAN KILLED
B? Telecraph—Press Association. Oamaru, June 2. Information was received this afternoon of a fatal motor accident at Hillgrove, by .which Mrs. J. Mahoney, wife of a farmer at Enfield, was killed. It appears that a party of four -were on their way to Dunedin in' a car owned and driven l>y John Malioney, the others being Mrs. Mahoney, Miss Jjahohoy, ond Duncan Cameron. At a sharp oorner of Kartigi Road the motor met a dray, and to avoid a collision the oar turned into a • bank and capsized. Mrs. Mahoney was thrown out violently and killed instantaneously. Miss Mahoney had heif. jawbone broken, besides injuries to her hip. Cameron received slight injuries. Mahoney escaped . unscathed. Mrs. Mahoney was aged sixtyCue. CHAPTER OF ACCIDENTS AT NAPIER AN ELDERLY MAN KILIiED. Napier, June 2. Napier had a chapter of motor accidents iduring the week-end. Dennis Crowley, a resident at Clive for over forty years, ivas knocked down by a car at Clive as ]io was crossing a rond. Ho became confused on the approach of a car driven from Hastings to Napier with a load of hockey players. An inquest Into hia <leath was opened on Saturday evening and adjourned. , . 1 William James'Muriro, a clerk at Niven and Co.'s, was found unconscious on the Napier Terrace, having been ran oyer by a-.car which had driven off leaving Munro lying on tho road. He was taken to the Hospital, where ft slight improvement in his condition is reported. Thfc driver of the oar lias not been discovered. A oar proceeding to 'Hastings on Saturday nignt after'the performance at the theatre overturned at JJo one was injured. ' • ■ On Sunday'; two cars collided at the Hospital gates, but no one was injured. Another motor accident occurred today. Jack Fox, iged four years, son of Conductor Fox, of the City Band, wnirun over by a motor-car on"the Marine Parade and one of his thighs and. hia skull were fractured. LITTLE GIRL.KILLED, AT WAIKARI. ' ' Christchurch, June 2. _ A motor-car accident yesterday at Waikari resulted in the death of a child, aged threo, named Hephzibah Kennedy. No details aro available,' that tho deceased was one of a party in a car driven by lie" father, and was hilled, by the oar overturning.• , INQUEST ON MBS. GLASS AND HER DAUGHTER. Oamaru, Jnne 2. Tho coroner's inquiry regarding the fatal motor accident on Thursday night conoluded to-day. The jury rehirned a .verdict that Mrs. Glas3 and her daughter met their death by asphyxiation l>y being pinned under a ear in mud and water. The jury added a rider which referred to motor-cars with dim lights, and expressed the opinion that "tho bridge ivherfc tho accident occurred should bo widened, as the approaches were dangerous. .
