A LONG JOUBNEY. 85 DAYS FKOM SAN FRANCISCO,

Contrary to expectations there is nothing special to account for the somewhat lengthy journey o£ the American schooner Georgette, which arrived on Sunday from San Francisco. Tho previously published report that the vessel was sighted on December 18, when about ten miles oft the entrance, was incorrect. Some vessel was undoubtedly scon, but it was not the Georgette. ' < Interviewed by a Dominion reporter yesterday. Captain Theodore Johnston, master o£ the vessel, stated that Ife had nothing to report in connection with his lengthy voyage. The Georgette left San Francisco on October 18, and for 52 days experienced fair weather. This brought her to the date on which she was supposed to have been sighted of! the trance, whereas she was at that time in the neighbourhood of Sunday Island. Pollowing this-long period of fair winds, the vessel encountered stron<r nor'-west«rlies, which proved to Captain Johnston that liis sliip was unable to make much progress in a head wind. This weather continued right December, and was only varied by occasioual southorliee, which further prevented her from making aquick voyage. Towards the end of December, . the vessel sighted . Palliser ■ Bay, but wind conditions prevented • her from keeping in to the land. On Sunday last, Captain Johnston sighted and hailed the steamer Stella, 25 miles from the entrance, and received a tow to port-. ■ The crew of ■the Georgette are all in good health. _ Included in the Georgette's, general cargo is a large quantity of case-oil, as well as 52 motor-cars. The vessel left the utrcam. yesterday, and took up a berth at the Queen's Wharf, w.herc. she will commence unloading. '.'■■'■ WAR SHIPS. ~.
