. ISLAND BAY CLUB OPENED. In the Absence, .of the president (Mr. I Neville 'Willoughby) the duty of opening the green.of tho Island Bay Bowlin" Club devolved, upon.Mr. C. C. Od.iin' (vice-president) on Saturday afternoon last.. "Mr. Odlin stated that tho, club was prospering. It had started with a membership of nineteen a ■year ago, and it'now bad sixty memon tho roll. Indeed, such wore the indications that the. .committee had required tho section adjoining on the northern side, and thereby providsd space for three mora rinks, which would be laid down when the necessity arose. The,vice-president said that he had pleasure in extending a' hearty invitation' to all. soldiers to visit the green. . ' The club had decided to fall in, with the centre's idea, and- give special facilities for play to those returned soldiers who were still underRoing.hospital jreatment., ... DONATION TO SEATOTJN CLUB. Mr. Alec. Crawford, the patron Of tho Seatmm Bowling Club, has presented the club with a''handsome trophy, which is. of special value, as it hits been fashioned by Mr. Crawford himfelf.'. The trophy is a silver punch bowl of unique desigii\ and shape, and mounted in* a square plinth of polished ' oak,,pari of the timbers of an old-time sailing vessel which ended her days as a hulk in-Wellington harbour. The bowl is suitably decorated, tasteful elief being- given to the metal by the delicate, enamel -work (executed by Mi'3,-Crawford). ;"The.bowl, will not be ' won outright, but will be .held by'the committee oh behalf of the champion singles player of the club. .
