LECTURE AT Y.M.C.A,
A good audience listened with great | interest, 'to a lecture on '.'A Recent ! Trip Through India".by Mr. M. W. ' P. Lascelles at the Y.M.C.A. on Tuesday, evening. The lecture was illustrated.by a set of lantern slides showing the chief cities of India, and also its temples and idols. The pictures gave an idea of the grandeur and beauty ■of the- architecture of some of the : magnificent buildings and ■ temples. Mr. Lascelles related many interesting facts about the village life, and. told how the Y.M.G.A. had come to the rescue of . the people and saved them from tho suaro of the money-lenders, to whom they were usually so much in debt. .This enabled the people to extend their agricultural pursuits and thereby helped them to improve their lot. Mr. Kersley (chairman of the Y.M.O.A. National Committee) occupied the chair at both this and the previous meeting when Mr. Lascelles was entertained'at tea by the Y.M.C.A. Foreign Work Club.
