', * —-— REQUEST INCREASES OF PAY. By Tclecraph— Press Association. Christohurch, October 16. The Christchurch tramway employees unanimously resolved to request from the Tramway Board increases of pay equal to those recently conceded by the Wellington City Council. _ The men's decision has been communicated to the board, with a request for . a reply m 1 time for consideration at a further meeting of the union to he held at midnight on Saturday. The board, however, is unlikely to deal with the matter Before its regular meeting on Monday. The men make no mention to the board of what their alternative is, or what will happen if there is no reply to place before Saturday's meetiug, nor would the union's secretary make any statement hoyond this: "Wo are not threatening the board, but simply making a request for what we consider our dues."
