DETAILS OF BEQUESTS

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Hill Street, was filled yesterday morning, when a solemn requhm . jna6S was celebrated for the Tepose of 'the soul of the late Dr. T. Cahill, one of the best-known members of the medical profession in AVellington. The celebrant was the Rev. Father Smyth, S.M., Adm., and in the sanctuary were 'the Yen. Archdeacon Devoy, S.M., the Rev. Father Gilbert, S.M. (rector of ■ • St. Patrick's' College), and the Rev. Father Langley, C.S.S.R. _ Those present included representatives of the Government service, medical andjegal professions, and commercial and business circles. Among those who paid a last tribute to the deceased were Sir Joseph Ward (Postmaster-General and Minister of Finance), Mr. C. P. SkeU- rrett, K. 0., Mr. A. Gray, K.C., Sur-geon-General Henderson, Surgeon-Col-onel AV. E. Collins, Colonel R, J. Collins (Auditor-General), Major A. A. Corrigan, Major F. Hume, Rev. H. van Staveren, Mr. Robert Turnbull, and the students, from St. Patrick's. College and St. Mary's Convent. The "Dies Irae" was sung by the choir of St. Patrick's College. At the conclusion of the mass the Dead March from "Saul" Was plaved by the Rev. Father Schaefer (of St. Patrick's College staff). The interment took place at Karon. The will of the late Dr. Cahill, made quite recently, provides for the payment of several bequests to local institutions. To the-lfunds of St. Patrick's College the sum of £200 is to bo paid; to St. Mary's Convent, Hill Street, £200; to the Home of Corn-' passion (at Island Bay), £50; to the Home for Incurables (Buckle Street), £50. The sum of £100 is left to tho Redemptorist Fathers. An annuity is loft to a sister'of the deceased in New Zealand, otherwise the residue, of tho estate is willed to Dr. Cahill's relatives in Ireland. Tho ostate is being administered by the Public Trust Office. _
