; ■ A'lmeetinjr of the Levin branch of the ; Farmers' union was held in the Fores- !' ters' Hall, Levin, on Saturday, to hear ! an address by Mr. 15. Newman, M.P., ;> on the question of the commandeer of 1 wool. Mr. S. A. Broadbelt, chairman . of the branch, occupied the chair. 'The j follomng resolution was .passed: "That ! this meeting supports the scheme proposed by Mr. E. Newman, M.P., in the \ direction of handing over all surplus ' profits from the sale of wool comman- ; fleered by the Imperial Government to i a fund for the be'nefit of those sailors I of the British Navy and mercantile ; marine who have lost their lives or been ; wounded during the present war."
■ Regarding the meat commandeer, the i'meeting resolved: "That this meeting ! strongly urges that the commandeer- . ing of meat by the Imperial Governj ment should he extended, so na to be co- ; tenninous with the wool contract; that ; the Imperial Government should puri chase thoivhole of the frozen meat proj duced by. tie Dominion at cijrrent ; prices until one year after the end of ! the war."' , ".. ■'..'.
