80,000 LABOURERS ALREADY IN FRANCE. Sydney, December 12. ( Dr. Morrison points out that China s declaration of war wipes out her treaty encasements, under which ,she owed Germany £12,600,000 and Austria £600,000 in indemnities in connection with the Boxer trouble. She also recovers possession of the concession areas. China has already sent 80.0U0 coolie labourers to France and Jingland. Practically the number oi Chinese which could be sent to Europe is without limit. It is estimated that 800,000 could bo dispatched, subject to transport difficulties. —Press Assn.
A CHANCE FOR AUSTRALIA.
(Rec. December 13,1.55 a.m.) Sydney, December 12. Speaking at a civic welcome, Dr. Morrison strongly urged the develop ment of Australian trade with China. Failing the appointment of a Resident he suggested that Australia should send a General Commissioner. Inquiry into recent happenings had cleared tno atmosphere in regard to Chma s treaty obligations, and any attempt in the direction he suggested would have a warm welcome from the Chinese authorities. —Press Assn.
