Y.W.C.A. Notes. Tho programme for to-night's entertainment for .soldiers and friends at the Y.W.C.A. club rooms will be under the direction of Miss Still, and will include 'original and humorous items. The members will help thoso who are in charge to make it a very entertaining evening.

The Y.W.C.A. summer programme, which is now ready for circulation, includes many outdoor activities. A tennis court has been obtained, and members of the club will be ablo to play every afternoon after live- and every Saturday from 3 p.m. Tb6so_ -wishing to join should enrol at the Y.W.C.A. office, I'owlds's Buildings, Herbert Street. Volley ball teams will play at "\Vyndctiffo" or "Tregatlvnan" on Saturday afternoons. The first match will be played this afternoon at 3 p.m. at "Wyndcliffc," 246b Tho Terrace. An evening gardening class will be held every Wednesday at 7.30 p.m., where, by means of demonstrations, tho theoretical as well as the practical side of tho subject will bo taught. Tho instructor, Mr. C. Evans, has just concluded a practical courso at tho Y.W.C.A. residence, and those who wish to become successful gardeners should talco this opportunity of attending the gardening class. Sunday, December 2, being girls' department Sunday, the service will bo of a specially bright character. The soloist will bo Miss Fair, a Hearth Fire Guardian,- and tho speaker, the Rev. W. Kay, who will give a special message to girls. All those who arc strangers to tho city will be very welcome, and members of tho girls' department aro expected to come and join in this their special service. Sailors' Friend Society, A very cnjoyablo concert was given 'in the. institute 'of tho Sailors' Friend Society on Thursday night by Messrs. Liardot and party, for tho enjoyment of the sailors in port. Tho proceedings were- opened by tho singing of tho well-known hymn "Eternal Father, Strong to Save." Pianoforte solos and songs were contributed by Messrs. •Mayall and Houston, and sonic very clever conjuring tricks by Mr. Liardet were' greatly appreciated, many of tho items calling for an encd*c.

Another effort for the benefit of Dr. Agnes Bennett's Hospital Fund is being made by members of the Pioneer Club, in the form of a salo of work, (lowers,.sweets, and cakes, which will be held' at the club on AVednesday afternoon noxt from three- o'clock onward. Several musical items will bo given, and there will be a series of brief talks upon matters of interest given by some well-known AVellington women. Members aro at liberty to bring their friends, and it is hoped that the Hospital fund will benefit to a satisfactory extent. This, it is understood; will bo tlie last effort on the part of the club for some time Dr. Bennett is said to bo working in Macedonia at tho present time.

By means of tho concert organised by tho "Gheer-oh Girls" of the Jolmsonvillo Golf Club, and given in St. Andrew's Schoolroom last . Saturday overling an amount : of £'25 has been realised, which will bo added to tho sunt resulting from the Combined Golf .Club's'stall on Sports Day (yesterday).

Tho Ladies' Auxiliary. Navy League "Grandmother" thanks tho. following linns for gifts of toys.—The D.1.C., Messrs. Kirkcaldie and Stains, tho Economic, Miss Foster, and Mrs. Macklin. These were for tho garden fete last Saturday. Tho N.L.L.A. workroom will be closed for hojidays until the second Tuesday in February.
