Tho attention of officers in camp is directed to tho advertisement inserted by tho International Correspondence Schools respecting their foreign language courses of instruction. They teach German, French, Italian, and Spanish with the aid of a special Edison phonograph, records, and text books. The schools' foreign instructors repeat a lesson into the phonograph many times until a perfect record is made. A motal mould is then made from this perfect record by tho Edison gold-mould process. Then all tho instruction records of that lesson are cast in tho mould, thus ensuring absolute precision and perfection of pronunciation. It is claimed that an officer could, with the assistance of one of those outfits, quickly acquire a knowledgo of any ono of the above languages.
