SOLDIERS' "JOLLIES"
FIRST TAKES PLACE ON SATURDAY NIGHT.
Consequent upon the closing of tho hotels at 8 p.m. ou Saturday evening, and thenceforward tho Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) 'has conceived that the provision of a. diversion in the shape of a good "free and easy" smoke concert at the Town Hall would form an attractive form of passing the evening pleasantly for those men from the camps who happen to bo in town for the week-end. A series of other Saturday evening entertainments, varied in form and design, will follow. For Saturday evening next, the Wellington Orphans' Cluh have arranged a real good programmo that should attract a large audience. Onlv soldiers in uniform and their lady guests will he admitted. The "jollies'" will bo free, but a nominal charge will be made for refreshments, which will bo in charge of Mrs. Lute's ladies' committee.
The.soldiers will be permitted to smoke cigarettes or cigars, but not pipes, so that ladies who intend accompanying their soldier friends, must be prepared for that contingency.
