Honors, T. Forsyth, H. U. Miller, L. A. i:d wards, and W. 3. Gaudm. The financial statement showed ft credit of Jt7s 17s. Sd. to the general account and ,£lli 10s. to the Commercial .Defence Fund. The letting*, due amounted to £o Vis., and tho subscriptions unpaid to .£lO TOs. ■The president welcomed heartily the new members of the council, and in doing so he mentioned tho many grave problems they had to meet, and'in that respect lie felt (hat tfhe new members would bring intelligence and new ideas lo bear upon them. Without new blood' any organisation would become stagnant, and ho knew of no body at the present time which stood in lieed of that new blood more than chambers of commerce. Tho election of officers resulted as follows:—'President, Mr. C. M. Luke; vice-president, Mr. A. Leigh Hunt; executive tmd finance committee, Messrs. Luke, Hunt, 11. liogers, J. V. Atkins, and T. Forsyth; arbitration committtee, Hewers. Edwards, Shaw, Forsyth, Nelson, Oaiidin, Sogers; commercial defence fund, Messrs. Edwards. Gaudin, Miller, Barton, Forcyth. and Rogers; shipping and insurance, Messrs. Edwards, Hart, Miller, 'J'eaglo, and Nelson; legislation, Messrs. Edwards, I'orsyth, Gaudin, Hart, Shaw, Mapplebcck, and Roger.;; improved country communications, Messrs. Atkins, Hurt, Mapplebeck, Nelson, Shaw, and Rogers.
