No material development is, reported from tho Italian front. Sereral strong attacks on the Italian advanced posts wero repulsed. The situation'at present, as viewed by one commentator, is shaping towards a big trial of Etrengtk on the Friuli Plain, where, it is said, tlio enemy's strategical position will compel him to accept battle. A British mission, beaded by Mr. Lloyd George, has left {or Italy. On tho Western front, the isitnation is much the eame ae it was yesterday. A semi-official statement from Paris reviews tho situation on tho.Aisne as tho German evacuation of the Chemin-des-Dames has left it. With his , commanding positions now completely in their hands, tho French are now able to dominate tho situation, and no complications are likely to upset their plans. The defence of the French positions in this region has been rendered easier, while fewer troops will be required. Further details appear to-day of the Turkish defeat on the Gam front. General Allenby, the British commander, effected a surprise attack, and the whole of the subsequent operations went like clockwork. The British have also achieved a smart coup in Mesopotamia, carrying several lines of Turkish trenches.
