The Anchor Company will dispatch the Kennedy to-day at 5 p.m. for Westport direct, and the Alexander to-morrow ior Greymouth and Hokitika The Rosamond will receivc cargo until 2 p.m. to-day for Bluff. The Corinna v is advertised to sail tomorrow for Dunedin, Oaraaru, and Timaru. The work of installing the new engines in the schooner Houto at Port Olialmera waa expected to have been completed for a trial run on Saturday. In order to install this machinery—two 60 h.p. ficandia engines—the vessel had to undergo extensive structural alterations. The Houto has been fixed to load general cargo at Dunedin on Wednesday for Lyttelton. When the Union Company's collior Kahika was leaving her berth at the Birch Street Wharf, Dunedin, on Thursday evening, bound for Greymouth, the vessel's stprn came into contact with several of wharf piles. The impact was not very serious, hut hit with sufficient force to damage the rudder. Tlie Kahika returned to her berth for the night,, and it was then decided to Jjcnd her down to Port Chalmers for dotfing for examination and repairs. It is expected that the neccssary repairs will be completed by to-day., when she will probably get away for Greymouth to load coal again for Dunedin. The Kincmoa is to leave to-morrow morning for The Brothers, where she will change the keepers and land stores and provisions, and Jackson Head beacon, where she will renew (he gas supply. If the weather is favourable, the vessel will co to Kahuranjd Point lighthouse, as a landing was not effected when she called there on Wednesday last. Impairs in the eneme-room of rhc vessel will be carried out on her return. The Putiki arrived last night from Wanganut by way of Tory Channel, whore a consignment of whale oil was shipped. The Putiki will leave to-night for Dune* din, Oaraaru, and Tiinaru.
