The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report that at their Upper ixutt sale on imirsuay tiiey submitted a medium yarning ol cat tie. Store cows, £7 lis. to £9 Ills.; store'cows (aged), £6 19s. to £7 65.; empty nailers, £5; small heifers, in calf, £6; bulls, £5 18s. to £Y los. At their Te iloro sale they submitted a large yarding of both sheep aud cattle to a lair attendance. Sheep were neglected, but cattle sold well under' spirited competition. Weauer calves, £3 Is., £4 9s. 6d., io £S 2a.; empty cows, £6 15s. to £7 35.; empty heifers, £6 15s. to £7 55.; cows with calves, £8 to £9 55.; forward cows, £10 65.; springing cows, £12. At Fcildiog on Frii day a good entry of sheey aud cattle told well. Medium hoggets, 245. 4d. to 2bs. 8(1.; good '..Vggets, 295.; store owes, 21s. 7d. to 225. Gd.; store wethers, 335. to 345. 9d.; small yearling steers. £4 18s. We offered five motor-cars at Feilding, but although there was a large' audience bidding was slack, aud only one car was disposed of.

Tfairarapa Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd., stock department, report:—At Carterton we ofiered a *very good yarding of slieep. cattle, and pigs to a good attendance of buyers. Competition wits keen, and .we report practically a total clearance. ' Prices were:—Fat ewes, 355.; store ewes, 275.; two-tooth wethers, 345. 2d.; fat heifers, £14 2s. 6d.; light fat cows, £10 lis. to £11 12s. 6d.; empty cows. £7 2s. 6d., £7 155., £8 55., £8 19s. to £y 25.; cows in calf, £8. £8 55.. £9, to £10; heifers, late calvers, £6 10s. to £7; mixedsex weaners, £5 7b. fid. to £5 lOs.; small weaners, £3 19s. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd. Palinerston North, report:—At Valmerston Aorth on August 23, we had a fair entry of sheep, consisting mostly ol' hoggets, those of good quality being in good demand. Breeding ewes were hard to quit. Store cattle came forward in good numbers, they were ill good demand, and prices were in favour of the vendors. Dairy cattle were also yarded in good numbers, (lood quality heifers were sold well. Ewe hoggets brought 295.; mixed fat hoggetß, 31s. 4d.; Sputhdown-cross huggets, 22a. 6d.; small mixed hoggets, 20s. to 225. Bd.: inferior do., 17s. 6d.; aged ewes iu lamb, 255.; good three-year springing heifers. £10 Ids. to £12 7s. 6d.; two and si half-year do., £6 15s. to £9 2s. 6d.; dairy cows, £10 to £12; forward cows, £9 los. to £10 7s. 6d.; good store, cows, £8 Is. 6d. to £9 55.; small do.. £6 'ss. to £7; two-year store hciferß (small),' £5 15s. 6d.; tlnx-e----year-old bulls, £9 10b. to £11; mixed yearlings, £4 183.; yearling heifers (small), £4. At Feilding on August 24 we had a l'aiiiy good yarding: of cattle and a moderate entry of sheep. Cattle were in demand, and practically all yarded were sold at satisfactory prices, 'l'he market for sheep was slightly easier than last week.
