An inquest, was held on Saturday morning by Mr. L. G. Reid. S.M., into Ihe cause of Iho. death of Kathleen. Violet Alien, aged 41, who died suddenly at her home, % Bolton Street, on August 23. Dr. Fyffo. who made a postmortem examimition of the body, described the condition of the principal organs, and expressed the opinion that the cause of death was syncope, due to a weak heart, coupled with asthma. After hearing other evidence tlio Coroner returned a verdict, in accordance with the evidence of Dr. Fyfl'e. The deceased's husband, Saddler Robert Alien, and her son are both at the front. Arthur William Roberts, who was fatally injured at Martou railway station on Wednesday, left New Zealaad with the Main Body ;i6 a bombardier, returning to the Dominion about six or seven months ago, as Iho resu.lt of wounds received at Gallipoli. The deceased at the, time of Ihe accident -was journeying to Taihapo to take up a position in the locomotive department of the Railway Service. He had served in South Africa, bein" sergeant in the Fourth and lientenant in' the Eighth Contingent. His interment took place at Palmerston today, with military honours. DROWNING CASES.
