CLOSER FRIENDSHIP ANTICIPATED THE EFFORTS OF INDIGNANT HUMANITY .Washington, August 21. Viscount Isnii (head of tho Japar.ese Mission to tho United States), presenting the Emperor's greetings to President Wilson, said ho believed that the co-operation of America* and Japan in the war would lead to much closer friendship.
President Wilson, in replying, said that closer ties must result from the mutual sacrifice of life and projierty, and added: "Hay the efforts of indignant humanity lead at the proper time to the complete establishment of justice and a permanent and serene peace."—Aus.-N.Z. Cable' Assn.
