The .Nautical Court of ..Inquiry into the loss of the lighter Dorset on Kai iwi heacii on August 1! gave its reserved decision to-day. Tho Court found that the accident was not contributed to by neglect by tho' harbour officials or any"defect ot tho port. Having regard to the proved. depth • of-, water, tho Court was unable to say what objeef the vessel struck. 'Hie : master of the lighter Shamrock", Captain .Tames Irvine, committed a grave error of judgment by' not going to'- 'the . assistance uf tho Dorset when returning-to port, and there was uuaceountablo delay in the lighter Thistle going to tho Dorset's assistance. Captain Bertie,- of tho Dorset- was exonerated from blame. The (Joint inado no recommendation as to costs.
