MEETING OF GAS CONSUMERS
GOVERNMENT CALLED-ON TO FUL:ML ITS CONTRACT.
" There was a-large and very representative meeting of gas consumers, held -in Ithe rooms; of the New Zealand En.-ploy-ers 1 Pederation yesterday afternoon. After a meeting lasting over two hours tllie following resolution was passed: — • "That this meeting of Wellington ■ consumers of gas for industrial poser . purposes, much of it in connection ■with the manufacture of military supplies, having learned that the stock of coal .now held by the Wellington ■ Gas Company is only, euffi- • cient for a short period, recognises the serious results -whidh will be:experienced if the.supply of gas for industrial purposes is not maintained. The meeting haying been .informed that a vessel is now ; in harbour ■containimr a load of State.coal .for the gasworks, earnestly urges upon the Government that it should.take immediate" stera to complete its contract and.Tiave , the, coal discharged.
