Major-General Robin had to leavjl his official duties yesterday on account of illness. Dr. Valintine, Inspector-General of! Hospitals, was a visitor to Masterton. yesterday. At yesterday's meeting of the Wellington College and Girls' Hign.School Gprernors it was announced that Mr. R. G. A. Sawell, 8.A., late of the staff of the Dunedin High School,, had been appointed an assistant master at the Wellington College. At. tho same meeting the resignation of Miss M'Diarmid from the staff of the- Girls' College was accepted. The R-ov. C. H. Harvey, vicar of St. Luke's, Wadestown, who has been appointed a chaplain to' tho Twenty-fifth Reinforcements, was on leaving to take up his duties presented'with a:substantial cheque, and a "travelling-case containing requisites for camp use, Mr. Alderson made tho presentation on behalf •of the donors at a meeting of parishioners this week. - Hearty applause from tho audience testified to appreciation of tho services. .of the vicar, who acknowledged the gift in appropriate terms. .--.-' ' Before leaving Christchurch for Weilington to take up a position with tho Goldberg Advertising Agency, Ltd., ■Mr. Stanley East, sub-editor of the Christchurch "Star,'.' was ; the recipient of a portmanteau and dispatch, case from the members of the literary staffs of the "Lyttelton Times" and "Star." Mr. M. L. Reading, editor-in-chief, and Mr. D. M'Lennan, editor of the "Star," referred/to Mr. East's capabilities as a writer, and wished- him a successful future. ' Mr. East has had. a wide experience in the advertising world.' On leaving Dargaville for Wellington, P.D.P. Bro. T. G. Sargent was presented with a handsome P.D.P. collar in recognition of the!work he had done in connection with' Lodge Te Awha, A.0.D., Dargaville. ■" Mr. Sargent resided in AVellingfon- some years ago, and has now returned to live here.
