It was asserted that there is now only one doctor stationed between Wanganui and Hawera. Up till a few weeks ago there was a doctor stationed at Waverley, ■ but as ■the Patea Hospital doctor proceeded on active service, the Waverley doctor took up his residence at Patea'to be in close attendance at the hospital., Waverley, apparently, is cut'off from telephone communication with the outside .world after five o'clock every even-, ing, and in view, of the importance 'of' the town and district it was;decided to communicate with' t|ie Minister of Public Health and the Post and Telegraph Department, asking for a telephone line to be erected between Waverley and Patea, so that the doc-', tor could bo communicated with, at; I night in,the event of. emergency.;
