SOUTHERLY WEATHER

Yesterday in Wqjlington and tht surrounding district opened with a still, clear morning. Later a fresh southerly sprang up, with an autumn bite in its breath, and blew throughout the day. At nightfall the breeze died down. Scattered rainfall has been reported from tho northern and East Coast districts, but conditions generally have improved. Present indications, states the official forecast, are for easterly winds, backing to the north. A westerly area of low pressure is likely to overspread the country, and a general change to unsettled conditions may be expected. The barometer will fall everywhere.
