BOWLING CARNIVAL

INGRAM WINS THE CHAMPION SINGLES

RINKS DOWN TO SEMI-FINALS

FINALS TO-DAY

Weather conditions were perfect yesterday for tho continuation of the Bominion Bowling Association's championship tournament, which is being drawn to a conclusion on tho Wellington Club's Green. The heavy rain which fell during the previous night gave the greens a good "grip," which was an advantage as the breeze was a little puffy in the morning, though not so troublesome in the afternoon. Good progress wae made with the tournament yesterday. The Final game in the Champion Singles was played during tho afternoon. The winner was Ingrain, of tlie AVellington Club, a young bowler who has been a consistently good bowler for tho past three or four years. His opponent was Haldane (of Takaka'), who is a good, draw, but displayed no great variety of shots in yesterday's game. In the Champion Pairs, the first round of the finals and some of the othor games ( in the second and third rounds have been played. To-day will see b'oth the semi-finals' and final games played. Tho game was fairly even up till about the twelfth round, wheu Ingram appeared to gain control of his nerves, and played something hko his usual form, whilst Haldaue failed to improve. On the twelfth head tho score was eleven all, and Haldane got a'singlo on the next. Ingram drew- a nice throu shots on the fourteenth head, one on the next, and two on the next. Haldane got two on the seventeenth head, but on the next head played a little two strong, and Ingram was able to measure in four, making the score 21—11 in his favour. It was all over. Ingram scored another two on tho nineteenth head, and then being nine ahead, ho, on. tho penultimate head, drew his four bowls wide, allowing Haldane to get four wide shots.
