ENGLISH WOOL MARKET'
LONDON SALES OPEN. (Rec. December 15, 5.10 p.m.). London, December 14. At the wool sales 7441 bales were catalogued. There were fairly good offerings of South Africans and N«w Zealands, but Australian meriiios wre. small. Second-hand parcels wero offered. Prior to the sale the Chairman ,of .the ■Wool Buyers' Association announced that as the result of negotiations with the Army Council the . sales would be allowed to proceed without restrictions. This enabled the dealers .and small topmakers to operate. Consequently there was good general competition. It was ovidont that the requirements •were urgent nil round. An advance of from 7-\ to 10 per cent, was established over the November closing rates. Direct consignments from the growers will.be offered immediately after Christmas. ..
