CHRISTCHURCH TRAMWAY UNION

Chrlstchurch, December 12. At a special meeting of the' Christchurch Tramway Union, held to receive the result of tho ballot taken on the question of whether the union should withdraw from the United Federation of Labour and Social Democratic Party, 209 votes were cast as follows:—In favour of withdrawing, 87, against, 120; informal, 2. Majority against, 34.
A communication was received, signed by the national secretaries of the New Zealand Federation nf Labour, the New ■ Zealand Labour Party, and the Waterside A\ r orkers' Federation,' inviting tho union to send a delegato To tho conference in Wellington, to discuss ways and means of icpealing the Military Service Act. By a majority of 104 votes it was decided to send a delegate. On tho question of instructing the delegate the voting 'was —For conscription, 47; against, 06. Mr. C. Stewart was appointed delegato by a majority of 02 votes.
