NEW HOTEL BAR PROHIBITION COMMENCES TO-DAY MEETING OF LICENSED VICTUALLERS _ At a special meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Licensed Victuallers 7 Association, held on Saturday morning, the following resolution was unanimously adopted:— "That, inasmuch as the War Regulations have been issued as a wear measure, this meeting desires all licensees in tho Dominion to do their utmost to have the letter and the spirit of tho regulations carried out, and earnestly requests the public to assist licensees in this rriatter by doing no act that may be constructed as a breach of these regulations."

For the guidance of licensees throughout the Dominion it was further resolved that a copy of the subjoined extracts from tho War Regulations Act, affecting licensees, should be forwarded to all affiliated branches:— (Extracts.) Tho War Regulations come into forco to-day, and their effect is:— (1) To absolutely prohibit "shouting" in a bar by any person. (Note.—A bar includes any part of the premises used principally tor tho sale, supply, and consumption of liquor.)

(b) To make it an offence for any licensee or employee in an hotel to supply liquor to any persons unless such person himself pays for it. (c) To prohibit women from ontering or remaining in a bar (as defined aliove), or from loitering about the entrance to such bar after 6 p.m. (Note.—The attention of licensees who have bottle stores is particularly drawn to this.) (d) To preserve the existing privileges of (1) hoarders and any persons bona-fido residents on the' premises with regard to "shouting," except in (ho bar of tho hotel; (2) tho existing right to supply liquor for consumption at meals, provided such meal is served not earlier than noon, and elsewhere than in the bar of the hotel.
